Tai Chi and Meditation BeiYin
Comment: Has anyone tried these methods for coping with pain?
BeiYin: Meditation and also Tai Chi should not be seen as a method to cope with pain.
If one has suffered enough then it might happen that one asks questions - questing oneself and what one is doing. Meanwhile it is well known that pain is a symptom which is caused by something. The cause might be unknown, but using a method or a pill against the symptom is obviously silly, although most of treatments are like this. Medication is given mostly to fight symptoms but not to cure.
If the symptoms are eliminated or at least  bearable then there is no need to search for the cause until another symptom shows up which is also treated in the same way. Often medication has side effects, which must be treated with other chemicals. And so on. These
medications don't heal and it is obvious that on the long run they kill. Connected with this are interests and from this side there is no interest to heal. Only a sick person needs medication, more and more, higher dosages from one symptom to the next, until the person and the organs breaks down. Then comes the next sophisticated manipulation: Organs might be changed...
This way to treat disease is well established and hardly there is any quest about it.      Alternative healer or med. doctors have a hard life, they are chased and blackmailed where ever they try to express their view. It is not a surprise that this is similar in this NG. So be careful if you comment about Tai chi or meditation, this is not well seen and you might be called a spamer or troll.
Meditation or Tai Chi and also Yoga can be practiced without any costs, nobody makes money with it. You can get information about it for free. There is a history of thousands of years and the benefit is well documented.
It is not a method against pain, but it creates the base for the individual so that healing can happen. This needs personal engagement, a minimum of independence and the strength to be able to make decisions. Indeed it is a hard way, especially because it goes against the established thinking and behavior...

Comment: What a load of rubbish!

BeiYin: Whatever might soften or loosening up the rigid structure of one's personality will be rejected and attacked. Any opinion, viewpoint or information will be criticized and called shit, excrement, rubbish or another one of those 'friendly' words out of the rich vocabulary of the defender of one's beautiful and at the same time 'lousy personality'.
Comment: If one had practiced Tai Chi or Meditation from early childhood on, one would reduce the possibility of becoming ill.  But there is no cure for FMS and other diseases. So  been diagnosed, the damage has occurred and the only thing one can do is treating symptoms. This is a basic knowledge that many know.

BeiYin: Yes, practicing Thai Chi and Meditation helps to keep one healthy.
Who says that it is not possible to recover from Fibromyalgia and other diseases? Didn't people believe that it was not possible to reach the moon before it really happened? And the incredible is that there are still people who think that it is not possible and they say that every thing reported about the moon landing was a fake. So if somebody claims to be healed from FM then you and others who have this fixed opinion will find a reason not to accept it and will call every body who doesn't agree a troll or whatever to put them into a bad light.
Thai Chi and meditation you can't misconstrue because it is some thousand years used and well established and the benefit widely known. But who says that it doesn't help also to cure?
As well as practicing Thai Chi and meditation will not prevent from getting sick if not other conditions like healthy alimentation, healthy environment, no bad habits or addictions, etc. are completed, so it also will not cure by itself without many other factors. But even sick from Fibromyalgia or another 'incurable' disease but practicing Thai Chi or meditation, this can build the base that a person can find contact with 'oneself' which could mean with a level of existence which goes beyond personal rigid and limited views and opinions. This will open up to a new feeling of existence and loosening up the rigid way to hold on on one's
'properties' of mind and emotions. The need to defend will be reduced and the gained openness will allow to understand oneself better and see clearer in one's awareness. Then decisions will be possible and attitudes and 'bad habits' can be changed. All together
will change the condition for one's disease and healing can occur.
As a process, in which the person participates out of one's own responsibility and so getting out of dependencies.
