Our defense system
serves to protect us from any kind of influences which are not already
part of our individual property, and this is valid for one's whole system
which includes the body, the mind and one's feelings and something else
which for many is not yet existent because they haven't yet included it
into their conscious awareness, but this part of our existence might not
need any defense (about this I will write later more...). If the defense
works well then we are immune against attacks. We have built special 'anti
entities' which eliminate intruders already known by the defense system
as irritating, disturbing or causing any kind of uncomfortable feeling
or reaction. Apart of this, also anything will be eliminated which is unknown.
There is no 'openness', all parts of the system are closed and every thing
which comes as an influence is filtered.
This is a very basic
function developed from the first beginning of life for all existing systems
from the most elemental to the most sophisticated. But how can there be
development if all systems are closed? Are all influences from outside
felt as aggressive and as attack? That explains why a self expression often
is taken personally by somebody else and felt as an attack although it
is not meant like this, but it triggers defense reactions. Probably that's
the reaction to any influence coming from an expression which is new and
not known and so not understood or it goes in the existing box of personal
experiences because something similar was felt as unwanted or it comes
from a person which is sorted into the category of being a suspicious individual.
The 'growing' of an
individual in this state happens by multiplying the already established
property. Obviously this gives a certain security and builds up a kind
of 'well being'. But then after some time there happens stagnation. Like
in an isolated, native tribe when those were multiplying for generations
within the same families and becoming all relatives. So there will be regression
and degeneration and that's what shows still in our days in little villages
in the mountains when there are borne much more 'idiots' than in cities
and other places where there is fluctuation of people. (Longman dictionary:
The word 'idiot' means a person of very weak mind usual from birth, who
can not behave or think in the ordinary way.) So what happened then was
that this closed isolated tribe was invaded by another tribe, women were
kidnapped and taken away or just raped. This happened in the old days as
a normal event and up to our days in all the wars... In our (peaceful)
time the village in the mountains will be invaded by tourists and some
of the native women might be pregnant after the visit...
What happens to a
system within certain cultures is the same as what happens to individuals.
Depending on the programming of the defense system there will be allowed
more or less influences. For example there are cultures, which do not allow
that women have any contact with strangers at all, so they are well protected
that no new gene enter the system. This well functioning protection
is mostly based on a strong belief system, a tradition rigidly taken care
of, a religious dogma or any other kind of strict rules. The believe system
of the western world works similar, just that here the belief system is
mostly materialistic orientated although spiritual garnished (embellished)
and there is hardly any openness for aspects which are not practical or
confirming personal needs. (That's the reason why anything mystical or
irrational, - anything which doesn't fit into the common, from society
supported mind system, is rejected or ignored.)
What is the similarity
between the immune system and the protection of the personality? Maybe
it's worth to have a look to find out about it.
The personalities
of the human species in its momentary state of evolution obviously are
in stagnation and regression. This statement probably goes against one's
personal belief because the image might be that we live in a wonderful
'new Age' were awakening of humanity is near, etc. If one believes this
then there will built up resistance against what is written here and probably
even before reaching to the end there might happen a reaction... And this
in spite of the obvious facts:
One of the many signs
for stagnation and degeneration of humanity is that the number of diseases
is rapidly growing and especially those connected with the failing of the
physical immune system. Often these diseases are resistant against the
usual medication. There are given many different names to diseases which
in their roots have the same cause, but this is not seen and not wanted
to be seen because only symptoms are treated in a limited traditional,
modern, materialistic way.
Modern medicine is
failing. The reason is obvious: The health system is stuck in old ways
of thinking and behavior. How can it be different, being so closely connected
with the 'personality' and the momentary state of evolution? The established
system is defending itself, it is immune against influences which are not
an established part. Sometimes there appear a very few individuals with
new viewpoints coming out of a different state of being... but they are
treated like intruders. The best defense seems always to attack out of
the rich arsenal of opinions and arguments and if it is not possible to
eliminate the intruders then the easiest is to ignore them.
What can make a change?
Is it really necessary that one state of established being has to break
down before something new can appear? Our mind is so much filled up with
concepts, images, dreams, opinions, believes, experiences, etc. and all
this must be defended, - because of the identification with all these amounted
old stuff and because the personality is gaining one's feeling of existence
out of it, - so there can't be space for anything new. Is this the reason
why there is disease? Which in parts causes a break down of the individual,
not only in one's body system but also in one's property of mind and the
established frame of being. If this happening is not seen as part of a
growing process and only is 'repaired' in the traditional way, then the
growing process gets stuck and will find another way which might be even
more destructive by going on another level or into an other dimension...
I personally do not
believe that it is inevitable to go through all this destruction and self
destruction with all its suffering and pain. There are shortcuts using
a wider awareness, but obviously a certain degree of suffering is necessary
to open the system to be able to receive some information as a starter.
Probably it's not yet clear that there is the same conduct
happening on all levels: personal, in all kind of groups, companies, or
even on a national or global level: Defending the established state is
the most common. This inhibits evolution and growing in a creative way
and the result is that there happens destruction, not only caused from
the defending system to the outside because of defense reactions, but also
within the own system and this shows as self-destruction. So this could
be seen as something 'positive' because it furthers the growing process
and this new attitude could guide to creative solutions of problems, but
mostly it is seen as negative and the only thing what is done is to try
to repair the symptoms or to eliminate the cause by separating it from
the whole.
If disease would be
seen as a healing reaction from the 'whole' system then with this creative
attitude there would open space for solutions, but it looks like we are
pretty far away from this.
A good example how the defense works can be seen in the
reaction from the owner of a mailing list I was subscribed to when I had
posted the above article:
"I'm not going
to post this one so please stop submitting it. Too much bias against certain
cultures and lifestyles."
[bias = a tendency
to be in favor of or against something or someone without knowing enough
to judge fairly.]
There is absolutely
nothing said against any culture, this was only used as an example describing
aspects of our daily reality, but this goes against the limited personal
opinion and I was put anyway in the box of a 'suspicious' and so must be
eliminated. This is how systems work...
BeiYin:

then it will eliminated. There is no openness, the system is closed and

Comment:
I agree about the purpose of the defense system, it allows survival of
the existing form. Also the defense system has the capability to remember
past threatening influences and so will always defend against those recognized
intruders. Is it true that anything will be eliminated that is unknown?
I don't think this is the case, because antibodies are only built up after
the system has been intruded with the invader. I think it is more like
the system can't 'see' the intruder because it has no memory to be able
to recognize it one way or the other. Most likely this is the opening that
is necessary for some invasion to provoke the existing system into adapting
to changing outside conditions, so it can't be a closed system or otherwise
there would be no growth. I think this is the same parallel in the human
personal defense, if something isn't known (as a threat to the personality),
then it is like it isn't seen at all. So perhaps it would be interesting
to look into a way to teach the immune or defense system that a certain
'entity' is an invader. On the other hand, how can we even know if something
is an invader or not? Who is going to teach the immune system what is good
and what not? Making our decisions will be judgmental based on something
that we fear because we have no knowledge of it, and so the desire to eliminate
it, which we have no real basis to know if the unknown entity is beneficial
or not. Of course this is the basic theory behind vaccinations, that you
give some of the invader in a shot and then allow that the immune system
builds up anti-bodies so that it can fight or fend off any future occurrence
of that invading entity. Then when you look at all the evidence today against
vaccinations that they are actually harmful, you have to wonder if human's
have the capability to teach the immune system anything. Probably some
other source is needed. Is the best strategy to ‘trust’ that the immune
system will take care of what needs to be fought by keeping it in the best
condition as possible?
BeiYin:

Comment:
As I stated above I think that it's more likely that unknown influences
are ignored, which doesn't mean that they are bounced out of the system.
There is simply no recognition or memory available to judge it either way
as good or bad. I think they 'infiltrate' like a spy, sitting in the background
unrecognized having an affect unknown to the system. Maybe eventually the
system becomes aware of the intruder and then either accepts or rejects
what the intruder brings… There can be a recognized new and unknown influence
only if there is a provoked fear from the system, indicating a threat to
the existing state. These influences will be rejected at first.
BeiYin:

Comment:
I agree that there is a tendency to cling to the existing state because
of the security felt and coming from the need to survive. But also the
systems have a tendency to get lazy sticking with their comfortable ways,
so there are also outside influences that will affect them forcing change
whether it is wanted or not. The system of the growing whole ensures that
we don't stay separated too long… These invasions by tribes and tourists
are examples of this.
BeiYin:

Comment:
Heavy statement… Yes, I think this is correct that the human situation
is in a state of stagnation and regression. Anytime a system becomes unbalanced
there will be stronger and stronger reactions indicating the internal sickness
or need to make some changes. The human situation in the world grows
more dismal each day, despite what the new age spiritualists tell us...
Our over consumption of all material things, our desire for more to survive
forever is causing want on destruction of our environment. Nearly everyone
is sick. Because of the increased toxicity of our environments, all our
bodies are thusly more toxic and this wreaks havoc on the immune system.
Thus leaving us open for invading viruses and bacteria to multiply in our
now open system, which we opened ourselves with our careless consumption.
BeiYin:

Comment:
I agree because 'to be an established system' is only possible if there
is an underlying defense strategy to hold it all together. This is true
of all systems. So it seems most important that people realize two things:
1. All systems necessarily defend to maintain itself, in order to survive
or exist. 2. Eventually the maintained system will deteriorate or regress,
if it doesn't adapt to outside changing conditions. As the outside conditions
are always changing the best seems to be to accept these two facts, and
teach our systems how to adapt to changing conditions, so that our established
systems become more like adapting systems. But this is most likely
a long way to go…
BeiYin:
What can make a change? Is it really necessary that one thing has to break
down
before something new can appear? Our mind is so much filled up with concepts,
images, dreams, opinions, beliefs, experiences, etc. and all these must
be defended. Because the personality is gaining one's feeling of existence
out of it, so there can't be space for anything new. Is this the reason

the growing process gets stuck and will find another way which might be
even more destructive by going on another level or dimension...
Comment:
Probably the personal defense system blocks out too many intruders, which
could be beneficial to help the system adapt to changes… Maybe this filter
setting on top of everything else is a main reason why people get sick,
not allowing the influences from the growing outside whole to infiltrate,
and offer that which could be a new breath of life to a stagnating system…
